[Trend Setter Tuesday] Man Cave Clothing
Trend Setter Tuesday Man Cave Clothing
Who is Man Cave Clothing?
Man Cave Clothing is an affordable street clothing brand based out of Pittsburgh. We started in June 2011 and have been going full speed since. We released our Fall Line Collection in September and October showing some new pieces as well as showing people what they can expect in the future from us.
How did you begin? What sparked the interest in designing?
Well I myself (Kevin Budkey, CEO/Founder) have actually been designing since 7th grade. But I came up with the idea to start the brand when I realized how much clothing really means to me as well as designing. I have my own retro original designs that cannot be found anywhere else and i wanted to share them with the world.
From where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Its crazy actually, i find my inspiration from music. I turn on some Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Varsity Squad, and more Pittsburgh music and the music gives me this vibe that i turn into my designs.
Is your line for everyone? What products do you carry?
Right now we do not have kid sizes but yes. Our clothing is for anyone who wants to stand out and show the world the originality that is out in the world. Right now we carry regular Tee’s, Girl Fitted Tee’s, and Hoodies.
Any plans for expanding the line? If so what will be added?
Yes, in the future we will have hats, tank tops, crew neck sweaters, and more!
Is your line available in any stores? If so where?
Currently we are not in any stores. Our 2012 Spring Line will hopefully be in stores around the Pittsburgh Area. Our clothing right now can be found at www.ManCaveClothing.storenvy.
What separates you from the other clothing lines? How is Man Cave Clothing unique?
We have an original retro style that is plain and simple but yet so stylish.
It seems as though the Music and Fashion industries are like brother and sister now. We see plenty of recording artists release clothing lines and many brands using artists to promote their product. Is this something you are looking to do?
I absolutely agree with this. We have reached out to Beedie and Jon Quest of Varsity Squad, B.White and Mayo of the 58’s as well as Franchise of the Come Up with our clothing to name a few. For our 2012 Spring Line we are looking to do a photoshoot/lookbook with some of the names I just mentioned as well as many more. Music represents clothing and vise verse.
Do you think technology has had an effect on the fashion industry? If so what?
I think technology has helped start many more clothing brands and businesses. The key to marketing right now is technology. If a business does not use technology for marketing in this day and age they will not survive and that’s a fact.
In these tough economic times what strategies are you using to keep cash strapped consumers buying?
Marketing via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Musicians. Everyone listens to music and everyone uses social networks so you have to combine both to have perfect marketing towards these kind of consumers.
Beyond the obvious goal of gaining financially, what is the biggest goal for your line this year? What about long-term?
Creating Fans. From the Pittsburgh Region to other countries. We have to have fans before we can expand.
Is there any particular piece that you’re excited for the world to see? Why?
Honestly, no. Because every single piece that we create I am extremely excited to release. If you get excited about just one piece, then the rest of your line lacks.
Every line has a signature piece for example Ralph Lauren’s butter has been their 2 button short sleeve oxford shirt. What do you believe yours will be or already is?
Our signature piece right now would be our MCC Repeat Tee and Hoodie Design. It is really what is catching everyone’s eye and it is definitely what we have been striving to market the most.
More than anything else how do you want the line to be remembered?
We want to be remembered by not being just a trend or a one time thing. We will always have a certain style that cannot be copied.
