[Mixtape]J.G. “HMS ’98”

Coming off his recent release of Gomoarah, J. G. prepares to drop his 5th project on June 20, 2012 entitled #HMS98 better known as Home Made Summer 98’ hosted by PartyBoyz DJ, DJ Mr. Rogers. The appropriate title pays homage to music reminiscent of the 90’s decade. Music of the 90’s provides that nostalgic feel in which it reminds you of a certain person, place, or time. “I just listened to 90’s music and thought about everything of my childhood that I missed; one of the first hip-hop songs I remember from the 90’s was Tupac’s “ I Get Around,” said J.G.. The ’90s was a time when socially conscious hip-hip stood toe to toe with gangsta rap and actually competed. “The 90s was a time where good music was created and I wanted to bring that vibe back to this album,” said J. G. the 20 year old rapper. Everybody loves the summertime and the music that reminds them of the girls, a family cookout, or vacation. J. G went in search of producers who could recreate that evocative sound.

Producers such as TDeezy and Nolan the Ninja are a few of the production credits off the album while J.Fin and Crack Killz provide the only features on the project. Since moving to Houston, TX from his hometown of Pontiac, MI J.G. has been influenced even more by southern hip-hop which can be heard in songs like Rap Flows & Dough. Tracks like Somer and Gone Til September evoke the fun times of summer parties, summer cookouts, and summer bunnies. #HMS98 is that feel good music that will resonate throughout stereo speakers this summer.
