"Locally Respected Globally Connected"

[Event Recap] Proud to be Local 15 (Producers Auction)

Last night I had a great time at my first ever “Proud To Be Local” (PTBL) event hosted by Pittsburgh Hip Hop Veteran Mista Scrap & Hollyhood. In typical style I was late so I missed a good portion of the show but from what I did catch I left feeling good. (The amazingly talented Derek Tull did capture photos of all the artists who rocked PTBL 15 go here to see them all)I think PTBL is more of a proving ground for Pittsburgh artists. Not much different than artists believing they MUST perform well at the Apollo Theater in Harlem NY at some point in their career. Seeing a ton of artists perform who I was unfamiliar with was fun but also let me know that I need to keep my ear a little closer to the street. There were some exciting performances I really enjoyed the twist of having local producer’s showcase their skills. Even got a chance to see one producer sell a beat! I look forward to the next PTBL, next time I’ll get there on time so I can check out all the acts from start to finish. Check out some of the pics from that night at Shadow Lounge as well as an exclusive freestyle from Komplex & Coach Morris (coming soon). The rest of the pics can be found by going to the brainofbmw Facebook fan page. There will be unique twist on the  PTBL 16 if you are interested in taking part go here http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QVRD8GJ
